Murray McKechnie


Murray is the owner and manager of Kalamunda Kickboxing, and has 'hands on' run the club since its inception.

After training for almost 15 years, his accomplishments include: Head Coach for the Australian Kickboxing team at the World Amateur Kickboxing Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand in April 2004
  • Assistant Coach for Australia World Amateur Championships (Khazakstan) 2003
  • Assistant Coach for Australia World Amateur Championships (Bangkok) 2006
  • Provided local community and schools with martial arts programs, events and demonstrations
  • Awarded probationary 3rd Dan rank titled ‘Sensei’ in Zen Do Kai freestyle karate in 2003
  • Managed, promoted and held five annual martial arts tournaments titled ‘Fight Night’ from 2000 – 2005.
  • Achieved Instructor level 2nd Dan Black belt in Zen Do Kai freestyle karate in 2000
  • Achieved Instructor level 7 in Muay Thai kickboxing in 2004
  • Bodyguarding for Australian Idol and CPP (Close Personal Protection) for high profile corporate and media identities

 

 

Brian Lewis



Brian began training with the club 4 years ago, and has been instructing the beginner kickboxing and Mazenod Classes for two.
Brian believes Kalamunda has the best club atmosphere in WA, and it is its spirit that has made such a difference to the success of its students and competitive fighers.
In his spare time outside the club, Brian is a Brick Technical Operator, and has completed his Senior First Aid Certificate.

Matt in Muay Thai Action
 

Matt Sansalone

Matt has trained With the club for 8 years, and has spent half of that time instructing, having achieved his Level 6 Red Instructor grade. Matt has had 9 fights (and counting), and is a qualified competition referee and judge for the WKA. Matt trains with Kalamunda because of its students, coaches, and the high quality of both that the club produces.

"Kalamunda always stands out at the gradings in Perth, especially on our technique, because we pride ourselves on teaching that, right from the first lesson."

Outside of the club, Matt is a IT Network Administrator for a large organisation.


 

Alicia Pestana



Currently the Australian Champion for her weight division, Alica is one of Kalamunda's regular fighters. Having achieved her Level 5 Black/Red grade, Alicia has fought all over Australia, and been invited overseas for some international bouts, and many believe her technique and ability personifies Thai Boxing.
Alicia is in the WA State under 21 Hockey Team, who recently came 2nd in the Australian National Hockey Championships.



 

Tim Pedrochi

At Blackbelt level, Tim has been with Kalamunda Kickboxing since starting as a student through a local highschool. Since then, Tim has advanced through the ranks with multiple fights and wins, using his trademark weapons of knees and headkicks.
